Univallate hillfort with a slightly inturned entrance. Except for the strong rampart at the E end, the defences consist of a scarp with traces of an outer ditch and counter scarp bank. {1}
Trees on the defences. Bank is c4m high on the E end but decreases elsewhere. {2}
Clear double bank on W with ditch between. Interior grass, rather domed with a terrace in the centre. Several banks and terraces on the steep slopes to the N. {3}
Roman coins have been found in the hillfort. {5}
Most of the site is in good condition under grass but there is severe erosion along the W facing scarp of the fort. {8}
Scheduling affirmed with new national number (was Somerset 353) on 16/4/1999. {9}
See PRN 44692 for neolithic finds from the hill. {10}
Substantial bank and ditch line visible forming E side of camp. Generally in good condition apart from exposed soil beneath mature beech trees on E side. Scarp on S side, topped by field bank is eroded, and field bank itself is broken through in a number of places by sheep. {11}
Scheduling revised to exclude well beneath hut on west side. {12}
