Details:

Footbridge. Dated 1838. Red sandstone random rubble. Single span arch, chamfered corners to abutments, low parapet carrying cast iron spearhead design railings, parapet swept back and terminating in square red sandstone gatepiers topped with 2 courses of brickwork and sandstone caps. West end has simple wrought iron gate, probably coeval. Keystone on South front of bridge inscribed G.I.E. (George Esdaile) 1838. This bridge, largely obscured by ivy at time of survey (June 1983), originally connected Cothelstone House (now demolished) and stables to the East, with the walled kitchen garden to the West. {1}
