Between March and April 1977 the Sweet Track was excavated at the Drove site. This site is located between the Factory and Burtle sites. A 50m by 3m trench was opened which exposed the trackway along this length. The trackway lay beneath a peat drove road and became exposed when the road was widened. Samples were taken for palaeoenvironmental analysis. {1}
