Details:

Five evaluation trenches were excavated at Pullins Dairy, formerly the Coach and Horses Inn (until c 1885). The major feature located was a large (2m wide) rock-cut ditch running down the centre of the plot and containing medieval material. A post-medieval drain followed its infilled line. Several mortared stone walls were located which could be correlated with walls shown on C19 maps of the property. The medieval pottery recovered appeared to date from the late C13/early C14, and the post-medieval to span the C17-19. There was considerable modern disturbance, in some areas tarmac lay immediately upon natural limestone. {1}
